About the Artist

Mary Lucking creates artworks that help people explore and understand the environments and communities where they live. Her work ranges from large-scale, permanent artworks to temporary interactive installations. Her projects include art incorporated into urban and rural walking and biking trails, public transit stations, college campuses, and neighborhood parks.

Her commissions include pieces for the cities of Phoenix, Scottsdale, St. Louis, Nashville, Tempe, Tucson, El Paso, and Houston, and she has shown work at the Chicago MCA, SIGGRAPH, MoCA Tucson, Sony Berlin, Cheekwood Musuem, the Boston Cyberarts Festival, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, University of Michigan, Arizona State University, CUNY Graduate School, and Vanderbilt University. Three projects have received Americans for the Arts Public Art Year in Review awards.

Mary holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture from Wellesley College and a Master of Fine Arts in Art and Technology from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She currently lives and works in Phoenix, Arizona.
