Public Art Projects

MAF Bond 2.0

On May 24, 2022, Atlanta voters approved three ballot measures to put $750 million toward vital transportation, parks and recreation, public safety, and public art across the city. The infrastructure package, Moving Atlanta Forward Infrastructure, allocated $5 million dollars for public art to be divided between the 12 City Council Districts for permanent installations. Funded by the Moving Atlanta Forward Infrastructure Bond, Bridges, Tunnels and Walls (BTW) is a citywide mural project designed to help beautify Atlanta and act as a tagging deterrent in areas with a high level of tagging.  This public art initiative will help promote tourism during the upcoming World Cup by enhancing the city’s visual appeal and brand, showcasing local artists that reflect its cultural diversity, increasing foot track in key areas, and encouraging visitors to explore more of Atlanta beyond the stadium.

The MAF Bond 2.0 public art projects will be completed in multiple phases. This February (2025) the Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA) is beginning phase 1 which focuses on 7 murals from Atlanta based artists.

Phase 2 will continue summer 2025 with additional murals as well as sculpture and mixed media projects for artists on the roster. For phase 2, OCA is releasing 10 projects over the course of the summer.

Finally, OCA estimates that phase 3 will begin in 2026 and aims to release the remaining projects.

OCA is actively working on the following public art projects:

  • Pearl Cleage and Zaron Burnett Center for Culture and Creativity mural
  • 24 Utility Box murals
  • 24 Bike Rack murals
  • West Cascade Park Sculpture

Applications are open through August 22, 2025 at 11:59 PM.
