Artist Statement
Someone once made the statement to me that figurative art is no longer relevant in people’s lives. My response to that sentiment is that as long as human beings are relevant, the representation of man through artistic expression is not only relevant but vital in the preservation of human thought and emotion. And if art is a higher form of communication, than it is the responsibility of the artist to constantly strive to familiarize himself with the vehicles of that expression so that he can more fully communicate his thoughts and ideas in a way that they may be understood and appreciated by a variety of people of all ages and from diverse backgrounds.
