The Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs has just concluded another successful season of the ARTSCool 2.0 Summer Youth Employment Program. We were thrilled to welcome a diverse and talented group of young artists and provide them with hands-on training and professional experience in various artistic disciplines. This year, our students mastered skills in filmmaking, puppetry arts, and mural painting, all while contributing to Atlanta’s vibrant cultural scene.
One of the program’s highlights was the collaborative mural project. Guided by experienced muralists, participants brought their artistic visions to life, creating stunning murals that will soon grace our cityscape.
In the realm of filmmaking, students immersed themselves in puppetry arts, crafting imaginative characters and bringing them to life in an original short film. They learned the intricacies of storytelling, directing, and editing.
Our program culminated in a spectacular showcase event at SCAD Show, where participants proudly presented their works to family, friends, and the community. The showcase was a vibrant celebration of their hard work, creativity, and the bright future of Atlanta’s arts community.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made this summer’s youth employment program a success. Special thanks to SCAD for hosting this year’s showcase and to the Department of Parks and Recreation for providing the perfect space for our young artists to create and collaborate.
