Artwork Restoration: Homage to Howard Finster

This installation is a heartfelt tribute to Howard Finster, an influential artist and Baptist minister. Crafted from concrete, metal, glass, marble, and tile, the wall structure features intricate concrete honeycombs interwoven with various materials. Inside, the wall reveals a temple structure adorned with cast images of trees, a cat, and hands.

The artist behind this creation is Kenneth Allen Wilson, Howard Finster’s grandson. Known for his unique approach, Wilson often incorporates recycled glass bottles into his works, infusing them with a sense of history and sustainability. This installation not only honors Finster’s legacy but also showcases Wilson’s innovative artistry.

You can find the artwork among the Folk Art Park Sculpture Gardens located at Courtland St. SE at Ralph McGill Blvd. NE.
