This piece features faces emerging forward from a black and red landscape. Square grid lines and topographical curves create a background for the faces featured across the face. Several crescents also form the shape of a smiling face in the piece’s center.

A Miami, Florida native, Omar Thompson has traveled, taught and exhibited in various institutions across the country. As a Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) alumnus and 1980 MFA graduate in ceramics from Ohio State University, Thompson’s work can be found in many private and public collections such as the Harlem Chamber of Commerce, The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center in Atlanta, and the Anheuser Busch Company in St. Louis, MO. Thompson is a professor of ceramics and African-American art at FAMU.
