Coiled Wool Fiber

This collection of tapestries is made up of three pieces. On the first, figures of children playing basketball and soccer are superimposed on an African Kente cloth patterned background. Alexander worked with Ralph Bunch Middle School art students to create a second abstract piece. The children picked the colors for the abstract piece that hangs in the center staircase. Lots of bright blues, greens, and pinks were coiled in to 120 units during five workshops. Three dimensional tie-dyed and brightly colored fabric squares form the composition of the third piece. The materials and vibrant hues unite these pieces aesthetically.
