Stainless steel

Originally installed in 1986, Margaret Mitchell Square features graceful, stainless steel sculptures by renowned artist Kit-Yin Snyder who drew her inspiration from Southern antebellum architecture. It recalls the nearby history of the worldwide premiere of Gone with the Wind, which occurred at the Loew’s Grand Theatre. The theatre was demolished, and the Georgia Pacific building now sits in its place. “The square reflects the essence of Ms. Mitchell, who had a keen respect for the past, but who was also fiercely independent and modern.” –Karen Hatchett

Born in Guangzhou, China, Snyder was educated in the United States. She creates site specific installations all around the world.
