Photographic and paint process on metal
This mural has an abstract background of concentric circles and horizontal wave-like details along the lower half of the piece. Located at the Washington Park Tennis Center, this piece superimposes black and white images of famous African-American tennis players, like Arthur Ashe. The main mediums for thie work are acrylic and pigment on aluminum.
Artist Carl Joe Williams was born in New Orleans. Art was Williams’ first love, and he drew fervently. At fourteen he was accepted into The New Orleans Center for Creative Art (NOCCA) where he received formal training. Upon completing high school Williams continued his studies at the Atlanta College of Art. In Atlanta Williams flourished in his craft; graduating in 1994, produced solo exhibitions, participated in several group exhibitions and completed several public art projects. Williams returned to New Orleans in 2003.
