Women in the Moments of Life
Chastain Arts Center is pleased to announce “WOMEN IN THE MOMENTS OF LIFE” featuring the works of artists Pehah Jacques Soro from Côté d’Ivoire and Casimir Bationo from Burkina Faso. The exhibition is curated by Jean Patrick Guichard and opens Saturday at 2 pm January 21st, 2023, and runs through March 31st, 2023.
Curator’s Statement by Jean Patrick Guichard
Each woman is unique in her story, itinerary, social condition, and daily activity. Through her joys, sorrows, hopes, ambitions, and dreams, she is constantly reinventing herself in her own way, every moment! It is THOSE moments that the artists Pehah Jacques Soro from Côté d’Ivoire and Casimir Bationo from Burkina Faso want to capture as a SNAPSHOT! These precious moments are when they are at their best. Being themselves; thus, a moment in the African women’s lives.
Jean Patrick Guichard established Gallery Miriam in 2009 to promote works by young artists from French-speaking Africa. Many of the young artists presented are award winners of European and Asian competitions. Their works hang on the walls of homes and galleries from Europe to Asia and offer a glimpse of their countries of origin. While specializing in art from French-speaking Africa, Gallery Miriam also includes works from the rest of the continent and the diaspora
