Power to Give Highlight: The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia

MOCA GA’s newly expanded Education/Research Center (E/RC) was JUST reopened to the public with a beautiful art library roomexhibition space for the permanent collection, a computer bank for electronic access to the historical archives, a video room for Oral Histories, and a conference room for meetings and art education programs! Now with an adequate facility to house the 940 pieces in the permanent collection, 3,000 art books in the art library, and 150,000+ historical items documenting the development of the art/cultural scene in Georgia, the E/RC is positioned to be a major contributor to art education and scholarly research. So now what? While the E/RC continues to be a resource for students, teachers, scholars and arts enthusiasts in the Southeast, MOCA GA now needs to broaden its reach to connect local, national and international audiences to Georgia’s rich artistic legacy — inserting this legacy into the conversation of American Contemporary Art.
