Confluence: The Art of F. Geoffrey Johnson
Chastain Arts Center is pleased to announce Confluence: The Art of F. Geoffrey Johnson. The exhibition opens on February 11th and runs through April 8th, 2022. F Geoffrey Johnson is a mixed media artist who has over 40 + years of experimental exploration and has exhibited his artwork both nationally and internationally. Johnson transforms environmental waste and other objects in his assemblage artworks. In his view, the waste that may have found its way into landfills and toxic dumps, both nationally and internationally and among our world’s poorest citizens, now may find its way into museums to be viewed by some of our world’s wealthiest citizens.
Geoffrey Johnson states, “The Core mission of his work is to re-purpose environmental waste that is globally endangering humanity, especially the youth of many impoverished African, Asian and European countries”. He believes in documenting his time on this earth through art and the art of the story. He relies on metaphor as a means of presenting visual art as literature. As a poet he firmly believes in the story behind his art and the power derived from leaving a visual history.
