Each year, the Cultural Experience Project (CEP) connects APS students with world-class arts experiences that inspire learning beyond the classroom. This December, nearly 4,000 APS second-grade students were immersed in the magic of The Nutcracker through CEP’s participation in the Atlanta Ballet’s Kids in Step matinee, held December 9–10.
Students were treated to a special behind-the-scenes look at the artistry, movement, and teamwork that bring this beloved holiday classic to life on stage. The experience offered students a deeper understanding of ballet while sparking creativity and curiosity through live performance.
To extend the impact of the visit, teachers received study guides designed to support classroom learning and align with Georgia’s Quality Core Curriculum standards, ensuring the experience continued well beyond the theater.
Through partnerships like this, the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs remains committed to providing free, high-quality cultural experiences that enrich learning and open doors to the arts for every APS student.
