On October 23, 2023 The City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office Of Cultural Affairs in collaboration with the office of District 2 Councilmember Amir Farohki unveiled the latest addition of art installations in Freedom Park entitled Self Portrait III by Jaume Plensa.
Self Portrait III was acquired under the leadership of Mayor Reeds’ Administration in 2017. The Renew Atlanta Infrastructure Bond Program allowed for 4.4 million dollars to be spent on Public Art. Self Portrait III is one of nine new artworks installed as apart of the Bond Program.
Jaume Plensa is a world renowned artist from Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Plensa in an internationally renowned artist with artworks all around the world in locations such as Frankfort, London, Dubai, Barcelona, Montréal, Nice, Shanghai, Jerusalem, Liverpool, Rio, Tokyo, Toronto, Singapore, Vancouver, Chicago, Houston, and Miami.
