Civil War Museum  Diorama Reenactors

 

For students, sightseers, and visitor of all ages, the world's largest painting and the longest running show in the US The Battle of Atlanta tells the story of Atlanta's colorful heritage. Through narration*, music, art and sound effects, history comes alive and takes you back to July 22, 1864 to become part of the battle. In addition to the painting the museum feature the locomotive Texas of The Great Train Race, numerous Civil War displays and an excellent book store.

Tour guides conduct a forty-minute, two part educational program on the Atlanta Campaign. Part I is a 14 minute film detailing the Civil War events that led to the Battle of Atlanta. For Part II guests are escorted into the Cyclorama where they experience the battle. On a second rotation through history, guides explain the history of the painting and answer audience questions.

Cyclorama Tours

Tour guides conduct a 40-minute, two-part educational program on the Battle of Atlanta every hour on the half hour from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The program includes special lighting, sound effects, music and narration (available in English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish).

Part I
A 14-minute film is shown detailing events that led to the Battle of Atlanta.

Part II
Guests are escorted into the Cyclorama to experience the battle. On a second rotation through history, guides explain the history of the painting and answer audience questions.

Times
Open Tuesday-Saturday, 9:15 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Guided tours are every hour on the half hour from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Closed for the following holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Day and Martin Luther King’s birthday.
