Summer Employment Opportunity for Professional Artists

APPLICATION DEADLINE: FRIDAY, MARCH 2, 2012 

 

The City of Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs is currently seeking professional artists to instruct and mentor Atlanta-area teens June 4 – July 27, 2012. Artists interested in summer teaching positions are expected to provide an atmosphere of creative guidance, support, and encouragement to a studio of six (6) to eight (8) participants between the ages of 14 - 18. Each Mentor Artist designs and implements an original eight (8) week curriculum that combines technical visual or performing arts instruction with the exploration of diverse cultural influences.  Instructor salaries range from $20 - $25/hr based on teaching experience.

 

Applications are being accepted for Mentor Artist positions working with the following programs:

 

ARTSCooL Summer Arts Employment Program

ARTSCooL is a summer arts employment program that provides art instruction, exposure to cultural events & venues, a salary and practical employment training. ARTSCooL participants are Atlanta Public School students participating in the Mayor’s Youth Program through a partnership with the Atlanta Workforce Development Agency.

Instructor Work Hours: June 4-July 27, 2012 ▪ Monday through Friday ▪ 10:30am – 4pm

 

ARTSCooL COLLEGIATE

ARTSCooL COLLEGIATE is an expansion of the ARTSCooL program designed to provide teens possessing strong artistic ability with portfolio development, advanced art instruction, and exposure to Atlanta’s cultural venues and events. AC Collegiate participants are selected via panel interview, receive a stipend for their commitment to the eight (8) week program, and showcase their work in a professional style exhibition.

Instructor Work Hours: June 4-July 27, 2012 ▪ Monday through Friday ▪ 10:30am – 4pm
